100% effective at stopping repeat offenders. According to an April 2011 Pew Report, almost half of all released prisoners go on to commit another crime. I hear many arguments that the death penalty is not an effective deterrent for crime, but nothing is more effective at stopping repeat offenders.

@JonOsman If deterring crime is the goal, it’s hard to say whether the death penalty is the answer. Look at mass shootings. Many of them are perpetrated by individuals who are mentally ill. They don’t care about death. In fact, many of them kill themselves after taking as many lives as they possibly can.
